Trumpf Laser Cutting Machine Consumables 1324861 Nozzle

The laser cutting nozzle is a precision copper component installed at the end of the laser cutting head. It guides the laser beam, regulates airflow and protects the lens, directly affecting cutting quality and operational stability.

1. Laser Contact Tip Core Functions

- Guide the laser beam to ensure central alignment and prevent beam deviation.

- Direct high-pressure auxiliary gas (oxygen, nitrogen or compressed air) into the kerf to remove molten slag, cool the cutting area and support combustion.

- Form an air curtain to block splashed slag and fumes, and protect the focusing lens from contamination.

2. Laser Nozzles Material & Structure

- Material: Pure copper is the mainstream choice for excellent thermal conductivity and durability. Brass is low-cost but has poor heat dissipation. High-end nozzles adopt ceramic coating to resist slag adhesion.

- Structure- Single-layer nozzle: Single-hole design, simple structure. Mainly used for cutting thin stainless steel and aluminum sheets with nitrogen.

- Double-layer nozzle: Equipped with a central hole and outer annular air passage for stable airflow. It is widely applied to carbon steel cutting with oxygen.

3. Laser Nozzle Key Parameters & Selection Guidelines

- Bore Diameter (Core parameter)- φ1.0–1.5 mm: For sheets thinner than 3 mm and nitrogen cutting. Features narrow kerf and high precision.

- φ2.0–2.5 mm: Universal for medium-thickness carbon steel and stainless steel.

- φ3.0 mm and above: For plates thicker than 8 mm, delivering large gas flow and strong slag removal performance.

- Concentricity: High-quality nozzles have a concentricity error within 0.03 mm to avoid nozzle burnout caused by offset laser beams.

- Nozzle Height: Keep the end face 0.8–1.5 mm above the workpiece. Excessive height leads to scattered airflow; too low may cause collision with plates.

4. Lazer Contact Tips Common Types & Applications

- Type S (Single-layer): Conical inner wall with strong slag removal capacity, suitable for nitrogen cutting of stainless steel and aluminum plates.

- Type D (Double-layer): Bore diameter above 2.0 mm, for matte surface cutting of carbon steel with oxygen.

- Type E (High-speed Double-layer): Three-hole inner core, for bright surface cutting of carbon steel within 20 mm thickness.

- Type SP (High-speed Single-layer): Stepped inner wall, for high-speed cutting of carbon steel over 20 mm thick.

5. Lazer Nozzles Operation & Maintenance

- Regularly inspect for deformation, blockage and coating peeling; replace damaged nozzles in a timely manner.

- Clean with alcohol and soft cloth. Never use hard tools to poke the bore to prevent damage.

- Install tightly and ensure good concentricity to avoid nozzle burning.

6. Trumpf Contact Tips Common Faults & Causes

- Slag adhesion on cutting edge: Undersized bore diameter, insufficient air pressure or poor concentricity.

- Rough cutting surface: Unstable airflow, nozzle wear or improper installation height.

- Lens contamination: Damaged nozzle, reverse airflow or excessive nozzle height.
